I recently had a chance to visit the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee. If you have never been, it is a beautiful part of the country. One of the pictures is the sunrise we saw on our way home. The other is the view of Cold Mountain from our balcony. As I sat and admired the awesomness (is that a word?) of God’s creation I started thinking.
He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20 NIV)
You probably know that a mustard seed is a very small seed. If we have a very small amount of faith, God can do great things in and through us. Looking at the mountain I had to ask myself if I had the faith to speak to Cold Mountain and tell it to get out of my way? I believe with all my heart that God could move the mountain, but my level of faith would fall short when it comes to believing if God would move it.
